Founded in 1971, theΒ Society of Childrenβs Book Writers and IllustratorsΒ is a non-profit, 501 (c)3 organization which isΒ one of the largest existing organizations for writers and illustrators. It is the only professional organization specifically for those individuals writing and illustrating for children and young adults in the fields of childrenβs literature, magazines, film, televisionΒ and multimedia. Β The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people.

ItΒ allowsΒ indie booksellersΒ to communicate this vital role they play in their local economies and communities. A Little Free Library is a βtake a book, return a bookβ freeΒ book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. AnyoneΒ may take a book or bring a book to share. Β As of January 2016, there are over 36,000 registered Little Free Library book exchanges in all 50 U.S. states and over 70 countries around the world.
